Soft White Bread


I've made plenty of breads before, but never tried making soft white bread.

I was so excited to try this recipe from Annie Eats!

This bread is incredibly soft!

It's perfect for Butter and Jam.
OR
 To make a Sandwich.

And this recipe is quite easy.

The only hard part is waiting. Making bread takes patience!

Ingredients:
makes 1 loaf 

3 1/2 c flour
2 tsp salt
1 c warm milk (microwave 1 minute)
1/3 c warm water (microwave 30 sec)
2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
3 Tbsp honey
2 1/2 tsp instant yeast

Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Leave oven on for 10 minutes, then turn off.
  2. Whisk together 3 1/2 c flour and 2 tsp salt.
  3. Mix 1 c warm milk, 1/3 c warm water, 2 Tbsp butter, 3 Tbsp honey and 2 1/2 tsp instant yeast.
  4. Slowly add liquid ingredients to Flour, On Low with your dough hook, knead the dough for 10 minutes.
  5. Knead dough with hands for 15 seconds.
  6. Oil a glass boil and ball of dough. Place dough in glass bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
  7. Place in oven on bottom rack for 50 minutes or until doubled in size.
  8. Flour your counter, take out dough and form it into a rectangle, 9 inches long.
  9. Roll your dough, lenghwise (like a jelly roll). Pinch seams, to seal dough.
  10. Place seam side down in a 9" x 5" inch bread pan.
  11. Place back in oven for 30 additional minutes, covered with plastic wrap.
  12. Bring 2 c water to boiling. (I microwaved mine for 5 minutes.) Pour into baking dish.
  13. Place baking dish (with boiling water) on bottom rack. Place other rack in the middle.
  14. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake bread on middle rack for 35-40 minutes.
  15. Cover with foil 15-20 minutes into baking.
  16. Remove bread from pan and place on cooling rack until it reaches room temperature to slice.
Instructions with Pictures

Dough should have about this height when done rising.


Bring 2 c water to boiling. (I microwaved mine for 5 minutes.) Pour into baking dish.
Place baking dish (with boiling water) on bottom rack.
Place other rack in the middle.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake bread on middle rack for 35-40 minutes.
Cover bread with foil 15-20 minutes into baking.

Remove bread from pan and place on cooling rack until it reaches room temperature to slice.
I waited about 1 1/2 hours.
