Breadsticks

 I was most definitely in an Italian mood for dinner.

I decided to make Chicken Parmesan 
and what better to go with an Italian meal than

BREADSTICKS!

These breadsticks are so divine smothered with Butter and sprinkled with Herbs.

And you don't have to wait terribly long for these breadsticks to rise.

Just Delicious!

Ingredients:
1/2 c warm water (105-115 degrees F)
1 1/8 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp olive oil
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 c plus 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
Butter to coat breadsticks
Herbes De Provence, to sprinkle   
(Basil, Marjoram, Thyme, Sage, Savory, Rosemary) 


Instructions:

  1. Heat water to reach between 105 and 115 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 2 Tbsp of the warm water, 1 1/8 tsp yeast and 1/2 tsp sugar; stir to dissolve. 
  3. Let it stand for 5 minutes or until foamy.
  4. With a wooden spoon, stir in remaining warm water, 1 Tbsp olive oil, 3/4 tsp salt and 1 1/2 c + 1 Tbsp flour.
  5. Knead dough for 10 minutes.
  6. Shape dough into a ball in greased large bowl.  Grease dough as well.
  7. Cover dough with plastic wrap and let rise in oven with light on for 45 minutes, or until doubled.
  8. Roll dough out into a rectangle and cut dough into desired sizes.
  9. Roll dough sticks to round the edges.  Place dough sticks onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Cover with a clean towel, place back into oven with light on for 15-20 minutes for 2nd rise.
  11. Spray or brush with butter, sprinkle with Herbs.
  12. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. 
  13. Spray or brush breadsticks with butter 2nd time.

Instructions with pictures

microwave 20-25 seconds.

Let it stand for 5 minutes or until foamy.
You'll get a nice foamy ring, picture above.

1 Tbsp olive oil, 3/4 tsp salt and 1 1/2 c + 1 Tbsp flour.

Grease dough as well.

Spray or brush with butter.

Sprinkle with Herbs. 

Bake in 400 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. 

After taken out of oven, spray or brush breadsticks 
with butter 2nd time, ENJOY!
